MSPlab provides IT support services and consultancy specifically for the UK private schools sector. Although established in 2021, MSPlab has quickly built an impressive client roster that includes renowned institutions such as Rugby, Gordonstoun, Eton, Marlborough, and Cheltenham College. By the end of their first year in operation, MSPlab achieved a remarkable £1 million turnover. “Now, we have a turnover of £3.6
million and over 100 clients,” says Dean Turner.

By the end of their first year, Dean and co-founder Adam were onboarding some of the most prestigious schools in the UK. “We have enormous expertise in IT,” Dean states, “but we also know what we don’t know – and I definitely didn’t know much about payroll!” When MSPlab hired its first salaried employee, Dean reached out to Austin.
MSPlab didn’t just want a payroll provider, they wanted a partner and Dean describes YPM as “the best of any supplier we engage with.” The lacked payroll knowledge, had little time and knew they were going to grow fast and needed support.
The solution.
YPM now manages every aspect of payroll for MSPlab, including salaries, bonuses, and commissions and also refer in other services to offer the whole package to go well beyond the normal payroll remit.
“Right from day one, everything was spot on,” Dean recalls. “I never had to send follow-up emails or inform them about new staff joining more than once. Whatever issues arise, whether it’s salary sacrifice for our electric car scheme or coming out of pension auto-enrolment, I just tell my team: ‘Message Austin!’ and it gets taken care of.” “They get it right the first time, every time. That’s a very rare quality in any supplier, especially since we work with many, including household names like Dell and Hewlett Packard.”
“Outsourced payroll with YPM is so seamless that I’m confident if I onboarded fifty employees in a month, they wouldn’t break a sweat.” Dean also appreciates YPM’s proactive approach: “We had an anomaly in our accounts software that showed a small imbalance we couldn’t track. We thought it could be related to wages or pension contributions but couldn’t pinpoint it. As our payroll managers, Austin and his team were under no obligation to investigate that, as it was an accounting issue. But Austin immediately jumped on it and solved the mystery.”
